About School Trends

School Trends was formed in 1989, initially working out of a family dining room. The business grew quickly and by early 1990 it had expanded into the garage. From such humble roots, School Trends developed into the UK's market leading supplier of school uniform, and now operates out of a 50,000 square foot building, supplying over 6,000 schools with their uniform requirements

School Trends have a desire to constantly evolve and expand their offerings to schools. This was highlighted by the birth of a new web division (School Trends.net), supplying web-based solutions to both primary and secondary schools. School Trends.net has now been supplying content managed websites and other web based solutions into education for over four years. In this time it has developed a profound understanding for the needs of schools and the unfair constraints many providers impose on the education sector which often lead to schools not receiving value for money.

School Trends have developed a different approach to the educational web market, first listening to schools and the education industry and then developing new technologies appropriate to the market. This approach has been pivotal in the development of the new Create Gateway.

Charity Involvement - Amy's Retreat

School Trends have been involved with Amy's Retreat since January 2007. Focusing on one local charity allowed us to make a difference.

Amy's Retreat is a charity set up by the parents of Amy Hall, who died at the age of 5 after battling with cancer for 3 years.

The charity was created to help families and children, suffering or recovering from cancer to take a much needed break and spend quality time together away from day to day routines.

Throughout the year, we organise numerous events which the whole company gets involved in, such as bungee jumps, assisting with making reindeer food and home cooking and baking. These activities raise money for families and children with cancer.

Welcome to @school. We make it easy for children, teachers and parents to explore the World Wide Web and make the most of its rich source of nursery and primary level educational material.

@school has been developed with both inexperienced and frequent Internet users in mind. So whether you are an Internet wizard or you have never logged on in your life @school will help you to help children use the Internet for education at school or in the Location.

Ideal for ages 4 right up to 13, @school has been carefully designed to give children the confidence they need to use the Internet as part of their education in an absorbing, fun way.

After breaking each subject down into sub sections, we offer a comprehensive choice of links and interactive activities on the Internet which relate to each individual sub section. Whichever aspect of a subject a child wishes to learn about, pertinent and high quality information is just a click away.

A play area has also been created so children can explore other areas of the Internet, including fun sites and online games galore.

What's more, @school can help teachers and parents discover links to a whole host of sites where they can access valuable resources and information.

Sports Partnerships

School Trends.net have always taken a collaborative approach to business, partnering with a variety of organisations to help make a difference to educating young people.

We are truly proud to have a long-standing relationship with the Youth Sport Trust.

Through working together we have gathered intimate knowledge of the specific needs within the Sports Specialism; with this we continue to develop technology which can then be applied to these needs.

School Trends.net has developed an intranet solution as part of a sports partnership website in order to allow ease of communication across a varied local network and to improve sports partnerships ability to market themselves more effectively. Both of these issues were identified as a need within the specialism.

Furthermore, we ensured the correct controls were in place to allow for multiple contributors without compromising the quality of material published on the website.

School Trends.net and the Youth Sport Trust continue to work together to form new ideas, and currently we are looking at developing further our offerings to each Sports Partnership.

" Really pleased with final product.

Lots of compliments and people interested in using School Trends for their website.

Nothing is too much trouble and will help me with little things to very quickly.

Quick responses to call and emails. "

" The software is extremely easy to use, which makes updating the site very efficient.

Being able to access the software via the Internet is great, it means you can update your site anywhere there is an Internet connection and your not stuck to using one particular computer.

This makes it available for the PTA and Governors to update their own area which is password protected.

Files and Images are also easy to upload and turn into slideshows, making it fun to use. "

" Build was great, quick and painless.

Lots of opportunity to make sure it was just what we wanted.

Product is brilliant, just what we needed to make updating and improving the website easier - thank you very much! "

I am writing with regard to our school website that we have recently produced with the help of the support staff at School Trends.

May I first thank the three members of staff Tristan, Natalie and David for the help support and guidance that they have given me whilst creating the website since January?

When discussing any difficulties that I might have had with the website they would always be courteous and prompt with their support.

Tristan was very clear and concise with his instructions and Natalie and David were always willing to give their help and support.

As a school we are very happy with the quality of the website and with the fluency that you can go between the Welsh and English parts of the site.

As we were possibly the first school to have a site of this kind I am more than happy for you to use the site as an example to other schools.

Please also feel free to give my contact number to any other school that is thinking of getting a similar site and if they wish to contact me I will promote your services as much as possible.

Thank you and your staff for the help and support that you have given me in establishing the site and I look forward to working with them again in the future.
